ACADEMIC AND SCIENTIFIC POSTERS

Our graphics team will work with you to turn your PDFposters into beautiful prints. Email your poster to us, tell us what dimensions you want (required by your teacher). Tell us your due date of your project. We can ship UPS Overnight or overland depending how much time you give us to print. Generally we need 2-3 days, but it can be done and delivered overnight if we get the file by 10:00 am. What are Vector and Raster Graphics and why are they important for signs?

Symphony Signs will normally request VECTOR files to reproduce your art work or logo. Vector files are composed of mathematical lines and shapes that are connected together rather than separate pixels or dots. This format enables us to infinitely scale your project without loss of quality. Because of these mathematical “points” and “lines” the vector image can stand alone and is just as infinitely editable. A vector created logo is originally created in a vector formatted program, such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw. Do not be confused by someone saving files such as jpeg or png as an eps or ai file; as these are not truly scalable vector files.

“It looks great on the website” so why doesn't it look great as a banner?

Printed media for signs need to be scaled to the custom sizes requested by our customers. A vector image printed on a 3” X 5” flash card can be enlarged to any size without losing quality. RASTER images are made up of separate pixels, which are essentially tiny squares. The number of these squares per inch represents the DPI of the raster file. As you increase the size of a raster image the pixels increase in size causing significant loss in sharpness and detail as the image enlarges. This is why an illustration or logo on a web site will look fine but when enlarged to span the width of your business in a store front banner may show distortion and lack sharpness.
